Lightweight U-Profile Guides

A series of custom U-profile guides was developed as an alternative to conventional aluminium extrusions.

The objective

The design needed to reduce weight and production cost while retaining sufficient structural integrity for the intended application.

Our solution

We developed printable profile geometry that could be adapted quickly to different dimensions and functional requirements. The sections were refined to use material efficiently while preserving the necessary form and stiffness.

Outcome

The final profiles enabled faster prototyping, lower component weight and greater freedom to customise individual guide dimensions without sourcing new aluminium sections.
